Vodafone Egypt and Ericsson Test AI-Powered Technology to Boost 5G Network Efficiency

Vodafone Egypt has strengthened its technological development strategy through a new collaboration with Ericsson, focusing on artificial intelligence applications.

As part of the initiative, both companies conducted a live network trial involving Ericsson’s AI-native Scheduler for Link Adaptation.

The technology aims to improve fifth-generation network performance, optimize radio resources, and deliver more reliable connectivity for customers.

As announced by the companies, the trial achieved up to 14 percent improvement in radio spectrum efficiency across 5G sites.

It also demonstrated downlink throughput gains reaching 50 percent, highlighting artificial intelligence’s potential in improving network capabilities.

As network demands continue increasing, the solution introduces intelligent mechanisms for managing radio resources under challenging operating conditions.

AI Technology Enhances 5G Network Performance

The tested solution belongs to Ericsson’s AI in Radio Access Network software portfolio, designed to improve network management.

As part of its operation, the technology enables faster real-time decisions regarding radio transmission and network resource allocation.

This approach allows the system to dynamically optimize radio link parameters, particularly in areas experiencing significant signal interference.

The solution also improves the utilization of existing fifth-generation spectrum operating on the 2600 MHz frequency band.

As a result, customers can benefit from smoother video streaming and improved responsiveness when using demanding applications.

The technology additionally supports more reliable video calls, even during peak periods when network traffic increases significantly.

As these improvements become available, users could experience more consistent connectivity across challenging radio coverage environments.

Vodafone Egypt Strengthens Its Global Technology Position

The trial builds on the ongoing network modernization partnership between Vodafone Egypt and Ericsson, supporting advanced telecommunications infrastructure.

As a result, Vodafone Egypt joins the early global adopters of Ericsson’s AI-native Scheduler for Link Adaptation.

The initiative reflects the company’s commitment to introducing advanced technological innovations into Egypt’s telecommunications market.

It also represents an important transition toward intelligent networks capable of learning and adapting in real time.

As traditional networks increasingly evolve, artificial intelligence offers new opportunities for improving operational efficiency and connectivity quality.

The technology supports Ericsson’s broader direction toward developing self-optimizing networks rather than relying exclusively on predefined operating rules.

Company Executives Highlight Future Connectivity Opportunities

Catalin Buliga, Vodafone Egypt’s Chief Technology Officer, emphasized the company’s continued adoption of artificial intelligence across its network.

He explained that these investments aim to improve efficiency and provide customers with consistent and reliable connectivity.

As Buliga noted, adopting Ericsson’s AI-native solution supports an enhanced 5G experience, particularly in challenging radio coverage environments.

From Ericsson’s side, the company’s representative highlighted the growing importance of AI-native capabilities in radio access networks.

The representative explained that intelligent real-time adaptation can optimize radio resources and improve overall user experiences.

As the collaboration demonstrates, combining Vodafone Egypt’s network ambitions with Ericsson’s AI software capabilities creates opportunities for enhanced connectivity services.

Vodafone Egypt continues investing in artificial intelligence to develop more efficient networks and improve customer experiences.

The initiative also supports future-ready connectivity, helping the company respond to evolving digital demands and increasing customer expectations.
