Elsewedy Electric Reports Strong Growth Across All Business Segments in 2025

Elsewedy Electric, a leader in integrated energy, infrastructure, and digital solutions, has recorded strong growth across all its business segments during 2025, driven by the solid performance of its wires and cables as well as engineering and construction divisions.

This growth reflects the Group’s strategy of diversifying revenue streams across both sectors and geographies, supporting sustainable expansion and strengthening its international footprint.

Ahmed Shokry, Group Chief Financial Officer at Elsewedy Electric, stated that all business segments achieved growth during 2025, highlighting that the wires and cables segment, along with engineering and construction, were among the key contributors to this performance, with the latter recording growth of approximately 25%.

He added that the Group’s diversification strategy has played a central role in driving sales growth, despite a moderate impact on profit margins due to increased competition in certain markets, and ongoing expansion into new geographies.

In an interview with Al Arabiya Business, Shokry explained that intensified competition in key markets, particularly in Egypt, as well as margin pressures in Saudi Arabia during the second half of the year, contributed to the decline in margins. Beyond that, he noted that entering new markets typically requires accepting lower margins initially in order to establish a strong and sustainable presence.

Shokry further indicated that the Group’s normalized profitability levels range between 14% and 15% under typical operating conditions, highlighting that recent years have been exceptional compared to historical performance.

Since 2023, Elsewedy Electric has been implementing a strategy to increase the contribution of international revenues. Currently, approximately 70% of the Group’s revenues are generated outside Egypt, compared to around 30% from the domestic market. Gulf markets account for 35% to 40% of total revenues, while other international markets, including Algeria and the United Kingdom, are showing increasingly positive contributions.

The Group is also expanding into new markets such as Indonesia, as part of its broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Asia and the Americas, alongside its established footprint in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

In addition, Shokry confirmed that around 70% of the Group’s revenues are denominated in foreign currencies, reflecting the increasingly international nature of its operations.

With regard to Saudi Arabia, he emphasized that the market remains a key growth driver for the Group. Elsewedy Electric has invested over USD 300 million in the past two years to expand existing facilities and establish new manufacturing capabilities, including cables, transformers, and cable accessories.

He went on to add that the Group is currently executing projects in Saudi Arabia valued at approximately USD 3 billion, spanning power generation and transmission projects across different regions of the Kingdom, underlining the strategic importance of the Saudi market within the Group’s future growth plans.

Elsewedy Electric’s total project backlog currently stands at approximately USD 6.5 billion, exceeding the Group’s typical backlog range over previous years.

Commenting on global economic developments, Shokry shared that recent geopolitical tensions have not yet directly impacted project execution. However, he highlighted that the most notable effects have been observed in global supply chains, particularly in shipping costs and timelines, which the Group continues to monitor closely to ensure uninterrupted project delivery.

Finally, Shokry explained that the Group is closely following developments related to the Ras El Hekma project in Egypt, with tenders beginning to emerge. Elsewedy Electric is actively participating in relevant tenders related to material supply, with execution expected to commence in the near term.
