Businesswomen of Egypt 21 (BWE21) Inaugurates the 11th Edition of its Annual Conference Bringing Together Participants from 45 Countries

The 11th Annual Conference of the Businesswomen of Egypt 21 Association (BWE21) officially kicked off today, hosted at the Arab League Headquarters in collaboration with the Femmes Chefs d’Entreprises Mondiales (FCEM), under the patronage of the Egyptian Cabinet of Minsiters.
Held under the title: “She Leads 360°: Cross-Cultural Leadership in a Connected World,” the conference is taking place from April 23 to 26, 2026, across Cairo and Alexandria, with broad participation from women leaders, decision-makers, and entrepreneurs representing over 45 countries worldwide.
The conference reflects Egypt’s growing position as a regional and international hub for advancing women’s leadership. It serves as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and dialogue on key issues related to enhancing women’s participation in the global economy, while fostering cross-cultural collaboration in a rapidly evolving economic landscape.
The event witnessed high-level attendance from senior officials, including Dr. Yomna El Sheridy, President of BWE21, and Dr. Marie Christine Oghly, President of FCEM, alongside representatives from several ministries and government entities, including Trade and Industry, Tourism and Antiquities, International Cooperation, Environment, and Civil Aviation. International delegations from Saudi Arabia, Senegal, the United States, Tunisia, the Netherlands, Côte d’Ivoire, the Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, Jordan, and Korea also participated.
Conference sessions featured a comprehensive agenda of high-level discussions and expert-led panels. The Opening Session included welcome addresses by Dr. Yomna El Sheridi, President of BWE21, and Dr. Marie Christine Oghly, President of FCEM, alongside remarks from distinguished ministers and highlights from sponsors focusing on technology, leadership, and investment for women. This was followed by the “SheLeads 360: Future Forward / Shaping the Future” session, which explored forward-looking perspectives on leadership and innovation.
Conference sessions addressed a range of key themes, including future-focused leadership and innovation, the role of the creative economy in driving growth and entrepreneurship, cross-border leadership and the localization of global impact, as well as sustainability, green innovation, and renewable energy as key pillars for building resilient and future-ready economies.
In her remarks, Eng. Margaret Sarofim, Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity, representing Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, and on behalf of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, stated that discussing women’s economic empowerment has become an imperative necessity and a key driver for achieving inclusive economic growth. She noted that empowering women economically, and ensuring equal opportunities for their participation in the labor market, constitutes a direct investment in the stability and prosperity of nations.
Sarofim added that women’s economic success is closely linked to their profound social role. Women are not merely half of society in terms of numbers, but are the true architects of its awareness and culture. Their role is evident as nurturers of values, educators of future generations, and builders of social peace. This role becomes even more significant and impactful when women are economically empowered, independent, and capable of decision-making—contributing to shaping a more inclusive and cohesive future.
In this context, Dr. Yomna El Sheridy, President of BWE21, stated that hosting this annual event in Egypt sends a clear message that the country has become a supportive environment for women’s advancement into economic leadership positions. She noted that the progress achieved in recent years in supporting women entrepreneurship and financial inclusion has significantly strengthened women’s presence in both the national and global economic landscape.
Dr. El Sheridy added that the conference goes beyond being an international event; it serves as a strategic platform for building cross-border alliances, exchanging expertise, and advancing the role of women in leading the global sustainable development agenda. She further highlighted that hosting the FCEM World Committee Meeting in Egypt for the first time reflects the international community’s confidence in Egypt’s experience and its growing role in supporting women entrepreneurship.
Dr. El Sheridy affirmed that the conference will open new avenues for cooperation and investment among businesswomen worldwide, fostering greater integration between regional and global markets and supporting the development of a more inclusive and sustainable economy led by women.
Dr. El Sheridy concluded by welcoming strategic partnerships from both the public and private sectors, stating: “We invite all institutions and companies that believe in women’s empowerment as a driver of growth, innovation, and sustainability to be part of this global event, whose messages are launched from Egypt to the world.”
The conference underscores an ongoing commitment to translating women’s empowerment from dialogue into tangible outcomes that contribute to economic growth and a more balanced and sustainable future, while reinforcing women’s role as active partners in shaping the global economy.
