WorkShift 2026 Summit to Explore the Future of Digital Work with ITIDA Participation and Dr. Hoda Baraka as Honorary President

The organizing committee of WorkShift 2026 Summit has announced the appointment of Dr. Hoda Baraka, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Technological Skills Development, as the Summit’s Honorary President, reflecting the event’s strategic focus on advancing digital skills development and enhancing the readiness of Egyptian talent for the evolving global labor market.

The committee also revealed the participation of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) as a strategic partner in the Summit, further strengthening the event’s position as a high-level national platform that supports Egypt’s efforts to build a competitive knowledge-based and innovation-driven digital economy.

Scheduled to take place on June 28, 2026, WorkShift 2026 is the first executive summit of its kind in Egypt dedicated to freelancing, online work, remote employment, and emerging work models.

The event is supported by @Job (formerly El-Hareefa) and will bring together policymakers, government officials, more than 200 CEOs, business leaders, and industry experts.

Dr. Hoda Baraka’s appointment as Honorary President recognizes her pivotal role in advancing Egypt’s technological skills agenda and her contribution to launching and implementing several national initiatives aimed at preparing a highly skilled workforce capable of competing in global markets.

This aligns closely with the Summit’s mission to empower youth and create sustainable employment opportunities.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Hoda Baraka, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Technological Skills Development, said:
“WorkShift 2026 represents an important platform for supporting the transformation of work models and maximizing the utilization of Egyptian talent within the digital economy.

National initiatives, particularly Digital Egypt Generations, aim to prepare a globally competitive workforce, and events such as this play a complementary role by connecting skills development with labor market opportunities and transforming learning into tangible drivers of economic growth.”

The Summit will place special emphasis on supporting national initiatives, particularly the Digital Egypt Generations (DEG) program launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The initiative falls under the “Building the Egyptian Citizen” pillar, one of the core foundations of Egypt’s digital transformation strategy.

Digital Egypt Generations aims to prepare a new generation of technology professionals by empowering diverse age groups, from primary school students and young people to university graduates, enabling them to compete locally, regionally, and globally while contributing effectively to the implementation of Egypt’s Digital Transformation Vision.

Within this framework, WorkShift 2026 serves as a complementary platform to these initiatives by transforming training and upskilling outcomes into real employment opportunities, particularly in remote work and freelancing.

The Summit seeks to create sustainable income streams for Egyptian youth while increasing digital exports through the global deployment of Egyptian talent.

The event also aims to connect qualified Egyptian professionals with the needs of local and international companies through modern employment platforms, thereby enhancing labor market efficiency and accelerating Egypt’s transition toward a digital economy.

For her part, Nermeen El-Nemr, Founder of WorkShift Summit, CEO of ManTech for Management, Training and Technology Solutions, and Chairperson of the Summit’s Organizing Committee, stated:
“Through WorkShift 2026, we aim to move beyond discussions about the future of work and into real implementation by creating an integrated ecosystem that connects training, employment, and technology, while providing Egyptian youth with genuine opportunities to access global labor markets.”

She added that the Summit serves as a practical platform for converting the outcomes of initiatives such as Digital Egypt Generations into direct employment opportunities through both remote work and freelancing, contributing to national income growth and strengthening Egypt’s digital services exports.

The organizing committee emphasized that WorkShift 2026 is designed as an execution-oriented platform focused on generating actionable outcomes and strategic partnerships that support the national economy and enhance Egypt’s readiness for the future of work.

This comes at a time when the global digital economy is experiencing unprecedented growth, creating significant opportunities for countries with highly skilled human capital to compete in international markets.

The Summit is expected to contribute to Egypt’s efforts to expand employment opportunities, maximize the utilization of human capital, and strengthen the country’s position as a regional hub for digital work and cross-border services.
