e& Egypt Achieves Breakthrough in Microwave Technology with the World’s First Uranus MB² Multi-Beam Multi-Band Antenna
e& Egypt, a leading integrated telecommunications and technology company, proudly announces a landmark innovation milestone, the world’s first deployment of the Uranus MB² Multi-Beam Multi-Band Antenna. This achievement, realized through a strategic collaboration with HUAWEI Egypt, reaffirms e& Egypt’s leadership in transmission technology and marks a pivotal step in redefining network backhaul capacity and efficiency.
The Uranus MB² introduces an unprecedented capability: it enables a single microwave antenna to communicate with multiple sites simultaneously across different frequency bands. This cutting-edge innovation strategically addresses structural and spatial challenges on congested cell towers, dramatically enhancing site efficiency and spectrum utilization. By accelerating new network rollout by up to 50% in complex or high-density environments, this technology empowers e& Egypt to deliver superior network capacity and next-generation connectivity that directly supports the nation’s digital transformation strategy.
Amr Fathy, Chief Technology & Information Officer (CTIO) at e& Egypt, stated:“This milestone represents a fundamental leap in transmission innovation and network evolution. The Uranus MB² Antenna is a testament to our commitment to pioneering the future of connectivity. Our strategic partnership with Huawei continues to play a vital role in unlocking the full potential of our network growth. As we advance into the 5G-and the following generations era, these transformative solutions ensure that our customers and the nation remain at the forefront of digital capability.”
This achievement with the Uranus MB² is complemented by e& Egypt’s success in a Full Duplex trial. In collaboration with HUAWEI Egypt and under the supervision of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), e& Egypt set a new world record in wireless transmission capacity using Full-Duplex technology on the E-Band, achieving a data transfer rate of 100 Gbps over a single 2 GHz channel within a 35-degree sector at the same site. Such relentless innovation reinforces e& Egypt’s position at the forefront of global telecommunications companies leading the advancement of 5G technology.
This achievement has been realized in line with the authority’s vision. The authority emphasized that Egypt’s commitment to optimizing national spectrum resources and enabling cutting-edge technologies is instrumental in building a robust, inclusive digital economy.
