Dwight Schools Partners with Al-Futtaim Education Foundation to Launch Dwight School Cairo in September 2026

Senior figures from across Cairo’s education, business, and community sectors gathered last night at the Cairo Marriott Hotel for an evening hosted by Dr. Blake Spahn, Vice Chancellor of Dwight Schools, as the network introduced itself to Cairo ahead of the opening of Dwight School Cairo in September 2026, in partnership with Al-Futtaim Education Foundation, the education arm of Al-Futtaim.
The evening discussed the critical role education plays in investing in youth and developing human capital, in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030 and the country’s long-term ambitions for a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.
Speaking during the dinner, Dr. Blake Spahn, Vice Chancellor of Dwight Schools, shared: “Bringing Dwight to Cairo is not simply about opening a school. It is about becoming part of a community that values learning, culture, and the nurturing of future generations. We are honored to partner with Al-Futtaim Education Foundation to bring Dwight’s mission to Egypt.”
Founded in New York City in 1872 and led by the Spahn family for generations, Dwight Schools today form a global network of campuses across New York, London, Seoul, Shanghai, Dubai, Hanoi, and Dwight Global Online. Each campus is united by one mission: to ignite the spark of genius in every child through personalized learning, global vision, and a strong sense of community.
Building on the success of Dwight School Dubai, Dwight’s first school in the MENA region, which demonstrated how naturally Dwight’s educational philosophy resonates with families, Cairo will become an integral part of this international network, opening new opportunities for cultural exchange and collaboration among students and educators.
Dr. Spahn also explained that “the strength of Dwight lies in its global connectedness. Students and educators across our campuses regularly collaborate, share experiences, and learn from one another. With Cairo joining our network, we are opening new pathways for international dialogue and learning that extend far beyond the classroom.”
The partnership with Al-Futtaim Education Foundation reflects a shared commitment to offering families in Egypt an education model that is future-focused, values-driven, and globally connected.
Dr. Farah Sarraj, Chief Corporate Officer at Al-Futtaim Education Foundation, added:
“Dwight School Cairo represents a meaningful step forward in strengthening Egypt’s educational landscape and investing in the empowerment of future generations. By bringing a globally respected school network into the country, this partnership supports the growth of learners who are curious, capable, and prepared to contribute to an increasingly interconnected world.”
Located in Cairo Festival City, the campus is being purpose-built around how children learn best: through exploration, creativity, collaboration, and movement. Flexible classrooms, breakout learning areas, dedicated maker spaces, performing arts theater, age-appropriate libraries, and indoor and outdoor sports facilities have been intentionally designed so that the environment itself supports both academic excellence and student well-being.
Dwight School Cairo will open its doors with classes from Pre-K to Grade 5 in its first year, expanding to higher grades over the following years. The founding team will be led by Tom Ferguson, an experienced educator and current Head of Dwight School Seoul, ensuring that the Cairo campus embodies the same culture, quality, and philosophy that defines Dwight Schools globally.
Dwight’s entry into Egypt reflects the growing demand for high-quality international education and aligns with national priorities focused on youth development, human capital, and global engagement.
